The Africa Public Sector Human Resource Practitioners Network (APS HRP-Net) was established in 2009 during the Conference of the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) held in Mbabane, Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) under the auspices of the Conference of African Ministers for Public Service (CAMPS).
The Network is comprised of five regions within Africa: Western Africa, Eastern Africa, Central Africa, Northern Africa, and Southern Africa.
The network’s establishment was in response to the:
Need to modernize and professionalize public sector human resources to achieve effective and efficient service delivery to the citizenry.
Strategic goals and commitments of the African Countries at the global, regional, and national levels.
The Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and APS HRP-Net are institutional constituents of the African Union Specialized Technical Committee (STC) No.8 on Public Service, Local Government, Urban Development, and Decentralization.
The primary objective of the Network is to provide human resource practitioners and scholars in the Public Sector in Kenya & Africa with a networking platform for advocacy, professional development of human resource management, and information and knowledge sharing for organizational and individual capacity for effective performance.
